Description

Donald Byrd's classic 1964 masterpiece, A New Perspective, gesturing Hank Mobley, Kenny Burrell, Herbie Hancock, Donald Best, Butch Warren, and Lex Humphries. This is the original 1964 pressing on New York Blue Note. Both sides are stamped with Rudy Van Gelder's name. This copy is a strong VG, with scuffs and some wear, but it actually plays amazingly well. There is a touch of background noise in quiet parts, usually just the beginnings of tunes or between them, but mostly the music is much louder than the noise, and it plays loud and clear. These early deep groove LPs are marvelously resilient. Really it plays WAY better than it looks. I would say it sounds VG+. A really nice copy despite the wear. The cover also has a touch of wear, especially at the top and bottom edges, where there are short splits and general ripping at the corners. Nonetheless it is intact and not coming apart or anything. A good listener.
