<<65th Anniversary>>
An original '57 Mono 1st press on UK FONTANA. Matrix 1/1. Philips pressed for Fontana as you would expect in '57. Etchings 'V420' etc. Tax code 'XT' = 1957. This is all consistent with very 1st press in '57 - sweet! The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with flipbacks. We also have an Emitex inner sleeve [probably didn't originally ship in this one - but it's a close match.]
Vinyl (Ex) A super looking slab of vinyl and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. For Jazz, and for the vintage, pretty dang fine. It is clean signalled. All I'm getting is what I'd describe as super faint 'presence' in a couple of brief spots per side. You'd have to really concentrate to even pick it out. And this is really important because this title is ridiculously quiet at some points. Only a super well preserved is going to stand even half a chance of delivering a proper and impressive rendition. A couple of very slight ticks on side 2. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) I wonder how many white fronts for an original '57 are still white after 65 years? Well, let me assure you that the camera doesn't lie, here. That front is perfectly white - which is quite frankly amazing given the relative passage of time. The rear is pretty clean too with only a couple of slight grubby patches. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. Minimal edge wear and sharp openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Wowzer.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of ageing. Bag present. No splits.
