-Artist / Group: Bowie (David Bowie)

-Mini bio:  Born David Jones on Jan. 8, 1947 in London, England. Glam-rock/Rock & Roll singer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter. Left pupil paralyzed in a childhood fight resulting in appearance of different-coloured eyes. From 1964-1966 recorded with King Bees, Manish Boys and Lower Third. 

-First recorded solo in 1966 with his release of Can't Help Thinking About Me on Warner Bros. 5815. Joined Lindsay Kemp Mime Troupe in 1967. Formed short-lived trio Feathers in 1968. Adopted new personas (Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Thin White Duke) to accompany several of his musical phases. Married to Angie Barnett from 1970-1980 who was the subject of The Rolling Stones 1973 song, Angie. Formed the group, Tin Machine in 1988. Married Somalian actress/supermodel Iman on April 24, 1992. 

-Acted in several movie including The Man Who Fell To Earth (1976), Labyrinth (1986) and Absolute Beginners (1986), he also starred in the Broadway Play, The Elephant Man in 1980.

-David Bowie bubbled under or entered Billboard's Top Pop 100 Singles Charts 32 times between 1969-2013 with singles such as: Space Oddity (1969), Changes (1972), Rebel, Rebel (1974), Young Americans  (1975), Fame (1975), Golden Years (1975), Fashion (1980), Under Pressure (with Queen, 1981), Let's Dance (1983), China Girl (1983), Modern Love (1983), Blue Jean (1984), This Is Not America (with Pat Metheny Group, 1985), Dancing In The Streets (with Mick Jagger, 1985), Day-In Day-Out (1987) and Never Let Down (1987) among others. 

-David Bowie also released a number of singles which although didn't chart are today considered CLASSIC NON-HOT 100 SONGS some of which are: All The Young Dudes (1972), Life On Mars? (1972), The Man Who Sold The World (1972), Moonage Daydream (1972), Rock 'N' Roll Suicide (1972), Ziggy Stardust (1972), Diamond Dogs (Live) (1974) and Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy (with Bing Crosby, 1982) among others.

-David Bowie died on Jan, 10, 2016 just two days after his 69th birthday. 

-Side one: Rebel, Rebel

-This rare North America only 7" 45 rpm pressing (Canada, United States on RCA Victor APBO-0287 and Mexico on RCA Victor SP-4049) is the alternative-to-the-album version heard by all of North America on AM Top 40 radio stations when Rebel, Rebel entered Billboard's charts in June of 1974. The Diamond Dogs album version of Rebel, Rebel is an entirely different recording. One can imagine the surprise of those buying the Diamond Dogs album thinking they were getting the single hit version they heard on their favourite Top 40 AM station only to spin the album and hear something quite different to what was expected. The rest of world when buying the single of Rebel, Rebel did in fact get the Diamond Dogs album version, only in North America do we find the shorter version (2:58). Its a more uptempo garage-rocker with backup singers, louder percussion with David Bowie apparently playing all the instruments except for the wild congas played by Geoff MacCormack!

- Perhaps not everybody's cup-of-tea, many like the longer album version more, however, if you're a David Bowie completionist, you need this single!

-Side two: Lady Grinning Soul

-This is the album version as found on the Aladdin Sane album.

-This record sold in small numbers, reaching only Billboard #64 in June of 1974 and is quite hard to find today (nearly 42 years later) especially in this nice near mint condition with the original RCA factory sleeve included.

Record grading:

(M) Mint: A mint record should appear to have just left the manufacturers without any handling; that is, it should appear perfect! No light scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains on labels or writing, tears or splits; nothing. Perfect. And age has nothing to do with it; the same standards for Mint apply to a rare rockabilly single from 1955 as they do to a Top 40 record from 1988! There are no sliding values for Mint. A Mint record cover should appear to have never had a record in it; no ring-wear, dog-eared corners, writing, seam-splits; nothing! Perfect! Even a new, unplayed old stock record can have factory flaws. Mint should be used sparingly and will usually attract a premium value to serious collectors. Mint means perfect and nothing else!

(SS) Still sealed: Still sealed in the factory shrink wrap.

(M-) Mint minus: A nearly perfect record. The record will show no obvious signs of wear, very light surface scuffs from normal handling are permitted but no light scratches. Original finish intact. Picture sleeves should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.

(VG+) Very good plus: The record will show some signs that it was played or otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or light scratches. Picture sleeves may have some slight ring wear, lightly turned up corners, or a small seam split.

(VG) Very good: Many of the defects found in a VG+ record or sleeve will be more pronounced in a VG record or picture sleeve. Groove wear may be noticeable, the record may have light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound, but the foreign noises will be less prominent than the music. Picture sleeves may have quite prominent ring wear. Creases, folds, seam splits and tears will be more obvious and may appear on all three sides, and there may be writing as well.

(VG-) Very good minus: Foreign noises may be about as prominent as the music. The record still plays through without skipping. The picture sleeve will have more significant seam splits, perhaps to the point where they were taped closed, and highly obvious ring wear and heavier writing. Can serve as a filler until a better one comes along.

(G) Good: We seldom offer a good record for sale unless it is particularly rare for the following reasons: Foreign noises are louder than the recorded music and listening can be distracted by the noise. May or may not play through without skipping, but should be so noted. Picture sleeves are so badly seam split that they may not be able to contain the record within.Tears, folds, writing and ring wear may be overwhelming.
