Description

An original 1st press of HD on the UK RCA label. Matrix 3T/3T - very 1st cut. Etching Bobil/Rasputin [Indicative of very 1st press]. Note how the labels mention the TITANIC publishing credits - these early copies are pressed heavy! In 1971 the 1st issue of HD pre-dated Stardust - and hence these copies are much harder to find than copies from 72/73 (when he'd hit the big-time). Please note there's a very early version with a laminated front cover. This example is unlaminated and would have been available at 1st issue. We also have the original lyric insert and the poly-lined inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. There are a few light marks and once superficial trail mark - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Not quite good enough to hit the top grades, but very impressive none the less. These early RCA copies really do dish out some fantastic audio. Expect just a bit of background static in a couple of the quieter parts of Bewlay Bros and Eight Line Poem. These tracks still play well - just not quite as clean as the rest of the LP. A truly classic Bowie LP. And a highly recommended rendition.
Cover (Ex-) Usually found in pretty poor condition by and large. But, thankfully, this copy is looking a cut above what usually surfaces. First thing to mention - and this is not particularly obvious from the photos - front and back are very clean and unaged. They are smooth surfaces with only one slight crease back and front. Now, that alone is quite difficult to find. Edge wear is pretty slight for this title and the openings still sharp. All text on the spine is fully legible - it is looking superb. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A real survivor - difficult to source like this.
Insert (Ex) No issues really. Very nice.
Inner (Vg+) Bit of ageing. No splits.
