Description
DeeDee Warwick: She Didn't Know (She Kept On Talking). Classic Soul, produced By Dave Crawford, arranged By Arif Mardin, written by Jerry Williams, backed by The Dixie Flyers. Original test pressing acetate of Atco Records #6754. Guaranteed legitimate, from a recently-uncovered stash of major-label promo 45s buried since the late 70s.
One-sided. Blank side is not graded but, as they usually have lots of scuffy surface marks on the mirror-finish black surface, this one is exceptionally clean!
Playing side: the majority of the record is STRONG VG++ to NM-. However there's a small area of wear. This was in storage for an extended time with a piece of the edge sticking out of the top of the sleeve. Consequently, there's some minor discoloration (better: DIFFERENTLY coloration) on the black finish there, though that's hard to see, and perhaps not worth mentioning. But there's also some marks/scratches there. I tried to scan this but of course it doesn't show anything. This portion is VG. It's about 1 inch deep by 2 inches wide; if you can imagine a 45 sticking slightly out of this sleeve, and picture the outline of the sleeve's diecut on the record, that's the portion.
I think a fair grade is therefore VG+, to call it VG overall would be selling it short. It plays VG+ throughout at least, just light crackle on that section. This is about as desirable in item as could be, for the Dee Dee collector.
Original sleeve is NM-.
