Elektra · 60957-1 · 1990 The debut that put Deee-Lite on the map, and the home of “Groove Is In The Heart.”
The StoryI first got “Groove Is In The Heart” on a cassette single. Then I bought World Clique on CD and played it to death, enough that the disc ended up scratched. For a stretch after that I was rocking MP3s I had ripped off that same worn CD, and they skipped in the exact spots the scratches were.
When I started DJing in Brooklyn in the early 2000s, I finally tracked it down on vinyl. This is that copy, and it has been in my crates ever since.
Under the one song everyone knows is a whole New York club record: house, funk, and soul running together, Lady Kier out front, Towa Tei and Super DJ Dmitry building the tracks. This copy carries an old cut-out notch on the jacket, a discount-bin mark from the era rather than any damage, and the wear of a record that got played.
Why This One- • The 1990 debut, home of “Groove Is In The Heart,” one of the defining singles of its moment.
- • Deee-Lite’s high point: house, funk, and soul in one record, deeper than the hit alone.
- • Original 1990 US pressing on Elektra (60957-1).
- • Rated 4.38 / 5 by the Discogs community.
- • Complete with the original printed inner sleeve of lyrics and comics.
Graded conservatively to the Goldmine standard, media and sleeve separately.
Vinyl: glossy with light surface scuffs visible under raking light, no deep scratches; not play-tested.
Jacket: carries a cut-out notch on the open edge (a distributor’s discount mark from the era, not use damage) plus corner and edge wear, graded VG for those; the art is bright and the seams are solid.
Insert: the printed lyric and comic inner sleeve is present, with light wear.
Visually graded under strong light, not play-tested, and priced with that in mind. What you see is the exact record that ships.
Shipping & care: ships promptly and packed to survive the trip: record in a clean inner sleeve inside the jacket, jacket in a fresh protective outer sleeve, boxed in a rigid LP mailer with stiffeners. It arrives exactly as it left.
