Deep Purple:  Shades of Deep Purple, Indian vinyl album.

Parlophone (Black label with Yellow and silver print. Cat No: PCS.7055 (YEX.689/0)

Matrix run outs:

Sleeve overall Good – condition.

Bottom and spine edge have old clear adhesive tape reinforcement.

Front light surface scuffing  with small spots of print loss, most noticeable above Ritchie’s head, where looks like print lifted when former price label removed..

Rear again slightly grubby, with for some reason the ‘made in India credit removed? Very hard to tell whether this was even there originally or has been rubbed off. The £ sign Parlophone logo doesn’t have any writing below as shown on Discogs pic.

Very slight arc of disc ring wear to left, with small amount of print loss. Couple of small water? Spots bottom right hand corner.

Whilst overall sleeve rated at Good -, must say from my research and the journey the album has been on, can’t imagine that many got out of the sub continent in brilliant condition. Overall condition reflected in lower staring bid for this rare version of the album.

Looks like contemporary, possibly original inner paper record bag, two adhesive tape repairs  to die cut side.. Bit crumpled. inner disc bag.

Disc was played once when I acquired it, 20.9.93, when the audio qaulit for both sides was noted as VG, but slight roar.

Visually looks pretty good, with odd very light sub surface hairline. No extensive spindle wear.

Strangely the ‘Made in India’ text beneath the Deep Purple has been removed, just like the sleeve, looks like some abrasion?? Made in India remain s in the label edge text though..very odd..

This is a solid lump of vinyl with that 1960’s feel….nice.

Selling on behalf of my Dad (who supplied all the info) from his personal collection, from the olden days when he collected vinyl.

I aim to use recycled packaging when appropriate.

A few words about the vinyl grading.

I try to be as honest as possible, but all grades are based upon an experienced but ultimately subjective visual inspection, trying to identify and highlight obvious issues.

Back in the day whilst my Dad purchased much of the vinyl new, as he expanded his collection, (eventually running into a few thousand discs) hence many only played once, inevitably he was drawn to second hand (pre-loved) copies of certain discs, including the rarer original 1970’s issue boots.

As you will appreciate, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this or looking at the listing, the nature of many of these live/unofficial recordings meant that original production standards were not necessarily a top priority, with occasional mastering/pressing faults occurring.

Similarly with any second hand vinyl which in some cases is almost 50 years old they will potentially exhibit aural signs of having been played, sometimes a fair bit..these are not mint, new unplayed discs (unless stated).

The attraction for my Dad was either obtaining the different variations of an issue or otherwise unavailable rare recordings…its called collecting!

When playing vinyl my Dad had a Technics SL1800 turntable with Ortfon cartridge, so no thrashing and grinding on an old  fidelity UA4! (early 70’s starter bedroom lo-fi, crank it up ?).

Didn't the UK and EU sign a free-trade deal?

Yes, but the UK-EU Free Trade deal agreed on December 24th 2020 means that duties will not be payable on the vast majority of goods moving between the UK and EU. However, duties and VAT are different things, and this does not impact on the VAT measures detailed above.
