Rare Derby 78 rpm featuring JACK DUPREE Orch. performing “DRINKIN’ LITTLE WOMEN” & “BABY, YOU SAY YOU LOVE ME”. Cut in 1951 this original 78 is conservatively graded EE+. Jack Dupree always delivers great Blues/RnB upbeat tunes with a little jazz thrown in. A rare one especially in this condition. The records i sell from my father’s collection are priced higher than most because they have been very well taken care of. Most of his 78’s look as though they have never seen a record needle. My father started collecting as a teen and his first job was sweeping floors at Savoy records in Newark, NJ. His love for music and record collecting became well known in the community. My fathers vast collection has some of the cleanest records you will ever see. A bold statement that my feedback here will confirm. My father’s collection was his pride and joy and I am happy to share them with the record collecting world. I am not a record flipper or reseller. Once his collection is gone that’s it! If you use Popsike etc for reference make sure you read the listings for condition, zoom in on the record for visual condition and view the history. The latest one that sold does not necessarily the bar. There is a night and day difference between V- and N-!
I ship worldwide via USPS First Class International and USPS Priority flat rate within the US. I recommend insurance as I cannot be responsible for lost or damaged records. That said I pack all records professionally in 78 and 45 specific boxes with a padding process I upgraded from just traditional cardboard squares alone. I will combine records at no further charge but will not put more than two 78’s or three 45’s per box. MY 78 RPM GRADING SYSTEM:
(Note: I now play each record I sell for extremely accurate grading. I recently bought an AT 120x with removable 45 and 78 specific needles/stylus as 78 grooves are cut differently from 45’s)
N- NEW MINUS - Highest grade used. Appears unplayed. Full luster. Slight signs of handling
E+ EXCELLENT PLUS - Full luster remains. Very few careful plays. Slightest indications of use or handling.
E EXCELLENT - Again full luster. Mild signs of play, inaudible sleeve scuffs but no serious wear or scratches.
E- EXCELLENT MINUS - Most if not all luster remains, but record has some noticeable wear, scuffs and / or a shallow scratch. Still a nice 78, acceptable to most collectors.
V++ Similar to above grade of E- but will have a defect that will be described in the listing.
V+ VERY GOOD PLUS - Record has considerable wear, scuff and / or scratches. Still plays ok but is clearly a used record. A majority of 78’s on the market today, unless from a well cared for collection are in the V to V+ range if not lower.
V VERY GOOD - Mostly or fully gray from use. Obvious surface noise but still plays ok and all the way through with more clicks and pops. Scuffing and / or scratches more prominent.
V- VERY GOOD MINUS - Further deterioration. Fully gray with deeper wear and heavy surface noise and/or skipping.
G - GOOD - I DO NOT SELL “G” RATED RECORDS 78’s
