Description

Original with black label, silver tinted text and logo. Leader, Donald Byrd, trumpet; Joe Gordon, trumpet; Hank Mobley, tenor sax; Horace Silver, piano; Doug Watkins, bass; Art Blakey, drums. Recorded in Cambridge, Mass. in 1955. Includes booklet. The booklet is 8 pages plus cover and is in close to Mint condition. Very rare.

Cover: VG to VG+ 4" split on the top edge. Entire spine has split. Minor aging on the front cover.

Record: VG Visually shows no wear. There are a small number of very light surface rub marks. Most are barely visible. There is some crackling on the first several revolutions on Track 1, Side 1. There are a few scattered light clicks on the balance of Side 1. Track 1, Side 2 has several skips at the beginning revolutions of Track 1. The only other noise on that Track is a few intervals of light groove noise. The balance of Side 2 has a few clicks and slight groove noise in a few places. Overall the sound is fine with the exception of the skips noted on Track 1, Side 2. In general, Transition original L.P.'s had very irregular quality. Generally pretty low. Those interested in this original should be aware of this description. I have adjusted the overall rating as my best estimate. Audibly checked.
