Description
Up for sale is an extremely rare ORIGINAL ISSUE mono album by a great jazz double bassist, in a terrific ensemble.

Wax Matrix Marks: On the 20A side: "TRLP 20B" "R" On the 20B side: "TRLP 20A" "CR" COMMENT: The wax matrix marks are just as listed above. Each side appears to have the mark that belongs on the other side. I have seen another online example of this record in which the same anomaly is described.
Doug Watkins was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1934. He accompanied all of the great hard bop musicians in the Motor City. The consummate ensemble player, Watkins is believed to have played on as many as 350 or more albums. But he was the lead on only two albums of which Watkins At Large (1956) was the first. Tragically, he died in a car crash just shy of his 28th birthday.
The level of musicianship on this record is simply superb.
