EAST OF EDEN
'SNAFU'
on the original DERAM RECORDS LP, cat# SML.1050 from 1970
A Brighton band who were to have a huge hit with 'Jig-A-Jig' a year or so later, they had some better psych releases first - and this is one of them.
Selling only on the strength of their live reputation, often in festivals and Universities, this eclectic and unique progressive psychedelic album melded electric violin (something only Curved Air were doing at the time) and saxophone into the normal guitar/bass/drums arrangement. Often wild but always controlled and intended rhythms wind around each other, and rise and fall - certainly requiring the listener's attention!
Quite consistent throughout, this was a step forward - a progress - from their debut LP. That had heralded their intent though, and had some excellent psych classic sounds on it too. Features the tracks 'Have To Whack It Up', 'Ramadhan', 'Marcus Junior', and 'Confucius' to name a few.
A rare LP nowadays, and a collectible gem in nice playing shape.
The vinyl is in EX condition, lables are bright and clean EX.
The laminated single sleeve cover is respectable VG+, with some light general wear.
