Description
TITLE/ARTIST: Hello and please continue to check out all current and future listings as everything from my personal collection will eventually come up for sale - records from the '50's, '60's, and much, much more - all "oldies" and all in great condition! Here is one of those early, rare and highly collectible LP`s by a man better known in the 1960's for his song writing skills - but who was also a singer in his earlier days at Motown Records - Eddie Holland - and this was his 1st, and only, LP release. Eddie Holland was a part of the infamous Motown Records songwriting team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, who co-wrote over 80 songs for a variety of successful Motown recording artists in the '60's. For those of you who might not know of him, here is a brief, but accurate, account of his lifetime successes as written up in Wikipedia:
Holland was born in Detroit, Michigan. Although he was an early Motown artist who recorded minor hit singles such as "Jamie". However, he started working behind the scenes due to stage fright. He was a member of Holland–Dozier–Holland, the songwriting and production team responsible for much of the Motown Sound and hit records by Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, the Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers, among others. He has written or co-written 80 hits in the UK and 143 in the US charts. Holland served as the team's lyricist, and also worked with producer Norman Whitfield on lyrics for the songs he produced for The Marvelettes and The Temptations, like "Too Many Fish in the Sea" and "Beauty's Only Skin Deep".[
It is yet another album in outstanding, practically "like new" condition - both the vinyl and the jacket - and even comes with the original "bargain bin" prices tags although these tags are placed directly on the jacket - which does not come in it's original shrink wrap. This rare album - his 1st and only - is on the original Motown Label and is self-entitled "Eddie Holland" from 1963. The LP includes 10 great songs - all in MONO and all in outstanding shape (see the pictures above for the song titles, liner notes, and more). I've even highlighted in one of the photos where the misspelling of "Motown" has occurred ("Mowtown") - check it out above.
LABEL INFO: This original, Motown Label (604) is nearly perfect with no issues at all - I don't even see any spindle lines around the center circle, which indicates to me that it had very little play time - if any at all. VINYL INFO: Likewise, the vinyl is also super shiny, clean, and nice with again, nothing in need of a mention. In my opinion, the vinyl looks almost as good as the day it was 1st purchased, although there are a few super light (and I do mean super light) paper lines in a couple of places. JACKET INFO: Finally, this colorful and attractive jacket is also nearly perfect and has no serious flaws or other issues in any need of listing here - other than the easily removable price tags on the front side only - if one even chooses to do so. Otherwise, in all honesty, this entire package looks very clean, neat and pretty close to perfect!! INTERESTING FACTS: Yes, in my opinion, this extremely rare and highly collectible LP is in the really nice shape, so please have at it and continue to check this site for more great conditioned "oldies" from my personal collection. As I have already mentioned, over time I am selling off my entire collection, and there are 100's more to get to yet -- of all genre's, sizes, and varieties. Many of these still to be listed records are rare and hard to find, and most all of them are in near mint shape. So again, please bookmark my site and check it out from time to time. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!! If anyone ever needs more info than what is listed, please email me. I will respond! POSTAGE/HANDLING CHARGES: In the United States, the buyer agrees to pay $5.00 (Media Mail with Delivery Confirmation) for the first LP purchased, and then just $1.00 per LP after that-----so, buy in quantity and save. These are U.S. rates only, and all foreign winners will have to await an email me for their exact costs, although I will send a detailed invoice as soon as the auction is over---but, there too, it is cheaper to send multiple pieces. The charges for overseas are listed in the shipping category below--$23.00 for the 1st LP and then just $4.00 per LP after that. PLEASE NOTE: I take a great deal of pride in packaging all my mailings both safely and securely. However, I cannot be responsible for records that are lost or damaged by either US or overseas Postal Services. But, for additional fees, I will gladly ship the packages Priority Mail and/or add insurance! Please email me with either, or both, requests if this is of interest to you. Also, please continue to check out "rogersrecords" on ebay for future collectible records of all types. There are many more to come!
