ONE AND ONE MAKES THREE
Here's a Dallas, Texas soul record that's so obscure, so small in it's pressing that I've never discovered it in 30 years, and it's from right in my own backyard!
Eddie & The Rays cut this one in the fall of 1966 and in November of that year dropped a pair of them at Wray's Music, a local store. They barely sold, and now I've found them.
This soul record "I Feel Like Crying" on the topside. The guitar riff sounds like the opening to the Beatles tune "Day Tripper." Vocalist for the group is Billy J. Thomas, but don't confuse him with B. J. Thomas who was a Houston area lad who was also just starting to make his mark in local music. The song's s good one, a bit sparse in the arrangement, but solid nonetheless.
On the other side is a ballad called "One And One Makes Three." If you dig this one, try to find their other single, also on Titan Records.
