Description
This is an ORIGINAL 1956 U.S. ABSOLUTE FIRST PRESSING of the historic landmark self-titled debut RCA Victor LP from Elvis Presley, RCA Victor catalog number LPM-1254. An examination of the accompanying images of the album cover and the record labels will show all of the earmarks of a first pressing, but all you really need to know is that the matrix stamper numbers are G2 PP1282-1S and G2 PP1283-1S, indicating the earliest possible 1956 first pressing. This is the album that started the rock-n-roll revolution, and is one of the best examples of rockabilly at its purest and finest - I have always said that if you wanted to teach someone what rockabilly is all about you would play them three albums - the Johnny Burnette Trio LP, the second Gene Vincent Capitol T811 LP, and this LP! Tracks: Blue Suede Shoes, I'm Counting On You, I Got A Woman, One-Sided Love Affair, I Love You Because, Just Because, Tutti Frutti, Tryin' To Get To You, I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry, I'll Never Let You Go, Blue Moon, Money Honey. The original grey 'The New Sound America Loves Best' RCA Victor inner sleeve is also included, this has no splits or tears. Condition of record is conservatively VG with all original gloss, some surface marks and small scuffs which cannot be felt and do not affect play, and a couple of very tiny surface scratches which can be felt and may cause a slight tick or two, no skips - I have play-tested this record over the affected areas. Record plays very nicely and quietly with the aforementioned very few slight ticks. Labels have some spindle marks and a little wear around the center hole as shown in the accompanying image, no other problems. Condition of cover is also conservatively VG, with a grade that low only due to the fact that a previous owner has placed now yellowed clear tape along all three closed edges - It appears that this was done primarily to ensure that a 6" split in the right-hand side of the top edge did not get any worse and that no further splitting would occur, as I cannot see any other split areas besides the 6" split area in the right-hand top edge. The accompanying images clearly show the appearance of the taped edges on both the front and back covers. Besides the taped edges the other minor flaws are a very small worn area with a little writing in red ballpoint near the upper left corner of the front cover, a little bit of ring wear, some contact wear, and some wear along the edges and on the corners. Cover has no tears or stickers. I will start this very collectable ABSOLUTE FIRST PRESS LP at a low opening bid price due to its somewhat lower condition grade and allow the bidders to determine its final value - A choice and essential ABSOLUTE FIRST PRESS addition to any Elvis Presley or roots rock-n-roll record collection! Winning bidder pays $3.00 media mail postage or actual insured priority mail postage within the U.S; due to new eBay regulations insurance will now be optional on my shipments, buyer assumes risk of loss or damage in transit on uninsured shipments. I WILL SHIP WORLDWIDE - Uninsured first class international airmail postage to the UK or anyplace in Europe is $13.50 - Please e-mail me for postage rates to other areas outside the U.S. WINNING BIDDER PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH - IT PROBABLY WILL NOT GET HERE!
