Description

ELVIS PRESLEY "ELVIS' GOLD RECORDS- VOLUME 2" (50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong) Original U.S. 1959 RCA Victor greatest hits album. Mono LPM-2075. M-/M-.

While Elvis was in the Army in Germany, Colonel Parker & RCA kept the product flow going with projects like "For LP Fans Only", "A Date With Elvis" & this album which compiled 10 hits & B-sides that had been released after the first "Greatest Hits" collection appeared in 1958. It contained the #1 hits "Don't", "Hard Headed Woman & "A Big Hunk O' Love" plus the #2 hits "Wear My Ring Around Your Neck" & Elvis' great version of Hank Snow's "(Now & Then There's) A Fool Such As I". Other highlights among the 10 tracks heard here are the gritty rendition of Smiley Lewis' "One Night" (originally titled "One Night Of Sin" but released with somewhat sanitized lyrics) which made it to #4 & a great ballad from Ivory Joe Hunter "My Wish Came True"- the B-side of "A Big Hunk O' Love" which still went all the way to #12 in July, 1959. This is the original 1959 monaural pressing with the rarely seen full bleed color photo of Elvis on the back cover unmarred by any print (later editions of this record had the "New Orthophonic" description on the bottom left). First pressings are noted by the "boxed" RCA Victor & dog logo with the catalog number under the logo & "Magic Millions" printed above the logo. *The 50,000,000 Elvis fans referred to in the LP title represents the 50,000,000 records that Elvis had sold worldwide by 1959 according to the Colonel's calculations.

10 tracks- A Fool Such As I, I Need Your Love Tonight, Wear My Ring Around Your Neck, Doncha' Think It's Time, I Beg Of You, A Big Hunk O' Love, Don't, My Wish Came True, One Night & I Got Stung.

Cover has very minor corner wear & edge wear along the right side. There is minimal age wear but no ring wear, writing or split seams. Very presentable cover is in near MINT condition. Record plays great with no scratches- record looks MINT but  we rated it near MINT due to the evidence of a few spindle marks on the label. The black "Dog On Top" RCA  labels still look great. They have the "Long 33 1/3 Play" in the bottom center proving that this is an original mono pressing from 1959.
