VINYL: When I looked at the condition of the album before I played it, I had no real hopes regarding the sound quality. After playing this TWICE, I thought this played much better than expected. Especially as I used a regular belt drive deck. Rarely have a heard a record in this condition play beyond expectation. I'm guessing this is largely due to the quality of manufacturing.
Side 1: There are several surface marks/scratches. Some of which you can feel. The record jumped twice in succession near the middle of track 2. Otherwise apart from a couple of ticks on track 5, there were mainly medium crackles, even during the quieter moments, throughout.
Side 2: There are several surface marks but just a couple of scratches which you can feel. The record jumped at the very end of track 1 and the beginning of track 2. Otherwise there were mainly medium crackles throughout.
Other than the occasions mentioned, the stylus was able to ride the scratches without too much trouble. Obviously the louder this is played the more apparent the crackles are. Perhaps if the record is professionally cleaned the sound quality could improve still. Overall this is far from perfect, but much better than anticipated.
SLEEVE: VG/VG+ (For some this might be worth purchasing to replace a battered sleeve. There are no splits along the three edges. The laminate has started to fray along the vinyl entry edge, but is generally in the condition described)
