ELVIS PRESLEY- ROCK 'N ROLL (AKA ROCK'N ROLL NUMBER 1)

1956 UK 1st pressing  LP on the HMV label

Catalogue Number-  CLP 1093

Matrix Numbers : Side 1  2XAV 255 - 1N, stampers 1 and G A;  Side 2  2XAV 256 - 1N, stampers 1 2 and G M


Both sides of this thick vinyl disc have retained all of their original sheen and are simply excellent  appearance. Looking closely under strong light, there are just a few wispy hairlines only on each side leaving the disc with a deep glossy finish

On side 1 however, there is a light hard to see 5cm scratch on the first track (Blue Suede Shoes) that does result in several background clicks when play tested on one of my decks but, on another turntable, the track does jump a few times..  ..Apart from that,The quality of the audio is overall Excellent and from then on, the disc play's great with no other defects and makes for good listening.

the labels are both excellent. The gold wording statements are fully legible with just mild spindle trails only. The period R.T. tax code stamp is embossed on Side 1.

The all important fully laminated cover is graded as V/G. There are no missing pieces & the front picture has a marvellous deep high gloss finish (Please see pictures) but there is some laminate loss plus some fraying  to the opening mouth on each side.. There is also some corner edge scuffs plus a small split to the bottom right front corner.. There is also, a small split on the covers spine but, still overall very presentable when considering how flimsy these covers were manufactured back in the mid fifties and needless to say, this item is now 60 years old..
