EMTIDI – Emtidi. Wah Wah Records LPS 034. Spanish release. NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. This album does not come factory sealed. Comes housed in an open-ended poly sleeve and will be shipped with the disc outside the jacket. Originally issued in 1970. This edition issued in 2007. German based heady contemporary folk duo. MEMBERS: Maik Hirschfeldt (6 & 12 string guitar, flute, vocals) and Dolly Holmes (6-string guitar, bouzouki, kazoo, vocals).

DESCRIPTION: Emtidi have become known mainly through their second album Saat which was released on the Pilz label in 1972. This German based duo was comprised of Maik Hirschfeldt from Bavaria and Dolly Holmes from Vancouver, Canada. The two hippies met in London in 1970. Together they went to Berlin to perform in the musical Hair. A short time later Emtidi was founded and the duo started to play the underground clubs of the city. Their early repertoire consisted of traditional acoustic folk music. Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser, later owner of the labels Ohr and Kosmische Kuriere, heard them play and offered a record contract. The possibilities of multi-track recording enabled the duo to expand their musical style on Saat, their second and highly recommended album issued in 1972. The album is sadly a little-known masterpiece -- a unique mix of folk, art rock, and psychedelic. Back in 1970, a very small edition of their debut, called simply Emtidi, had appeared on the small Thorofon label. While there is to be heard some quite traditional folk with acoustic guitar and English lyrics on the album front side, reminiscent maybe of the early Bob Dylan, the flip side already sounds far more psychedelic/cosmic, with an abundant use of the flute and 12-string guitar. The male-female duet singing, all in English, is pleasing to the ear. Some of the highlights include the peace-and-love vibe of Looking For People, Shadow On Your Face (recalls a folk version of Hawkwind's Paranoia), the beautifully played Long Long Journey, the awesome No Turn Back - where Dolly Holmes plays a kazoo and the more traditional folk-like Space Age. As for the rest of this album, Yvonne's Dream and Birds On A Graveyard offer some fine acoustic jamming and Flutepiece is a Gong-like seven minute opus which employs some fantastic 6 and 12 string acoustic guitar and brilliant flute work. Should appeal to fans of Incredible String Band, Pentangle, and Renaissance.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

$4.90 via USPS Media Mail for the first single LP or double disc LP set (excluding box sets); this also includes tracking. Check your eBay Purchases folder for tracking and shipping information.
$1.25 for each additional single LP set and/or
$1.50 for each additional double LP set.
All US packages are processed for shipping via eBay and include a tracking number. Check your purchases folder to monitor your tracking.
