WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original London “Full Frequency Range Recording” (ffrr) Records very first High Fidelity Mono press released by London Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1970 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records, Chile), licensed from London Records Inc., USA, catalog number LLC-38589, with machine etched matrix number ARL-9225.P-2A 1 2B in Side A and ARL-9226.P-3A 1 21 SM A in Side B, with traditional green/black London “ffrr” Records labels of the period, with big boxed London “ffrr” Records logo at top. Yes, Sirs, another FIND from Chile!!!

“Engelbert Humperdinck” was originally released in 1969 in the UK, and we had to wait until 1970 to see this album released here in Chile and, like usual in the period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER, made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded at the bottom edge, with two single sheets of paper attached, not glued, to the cardboard for front and back covers, and kept all held for an outer plastic bag, which’s also part of the cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original UK artwork and design, with the only difference that in Chile the song titles are written in English only, with London Records logo instead original UK “Decca” logo, at bottom right corner. Back cover also keeps the same original UK artwork and design but it’s black and white only, with the tracklist written in English, translated to Spanish, except song “Cafe”, which doesn’t need translation, with full credits for Arthur Greenslade as music director and for Peter Sullivan as producer, with additional information about licenses, with London Records logo and catalog number at top right corner. In labels, the tracklist is written in English only, except the subtitle “Love Theme From Romeo And Juliet” (of “A Time For Us”), which’s written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and for producer Peter Sullivan, with additional information about licenses. It’s interesting to notice that in original UK release the credits for songwriters of “A Time Of Us (Love Theme From Romeo And Juliet)” are for “Rota – Kusik – Snyder”, but in this Chilean release the credits are for Nino Rota only, the names of English lyricists Larry Kusik and Eddie Snyder are omitted. In song “Love Letters”, in this Chilean press the name of the co-author Victor Young is misspelled “YCUNG”. And for song “The Signs Of Love”, the name of the co-author, Bert Kaempfert”, is misspelled “KAEMPFER”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this classic album by Engelbert Humperdinck, in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, with UNIQUE BLACK AND WHITE BACK COVER, with Spanish-written song titles and with UNIQUE ERRORS, a record known but maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time. WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Pop and Traditional/Vocal Easy Listening music of the ‘60’s and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Engelbert Humperdinck!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX+ or even NM- condition, clean and clear, with only minimal wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with some very faint creases and free of marks of any kind, the faint ring marks that you can see in pictures are in the plastic, not in cardboards. The outer plastic bag is in EX- or even EX condition, with some little rips, the most evident in back cover, caused when the original owner opened the plastic bag, a bit dirty in edges, but clean and with all seams intact, it has protected the fragile papers very well. The record is in strong EX or even EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with some very soft scuffs and minimal light hairlines, mostly hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. The labels are in great EX- or even EX condition the Side A, clean and clear, with some spindle hole wear, with also some micro tears, and in NM- or NM condition the Side B, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX or even EX+ condition both sides, loud, clean and clear, virtually no background noise (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), with occasional and mostly barely audible soft crackles and light clicks here and there, more evident in some silent parts and between tracks, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to end. Overall, this is a great record by Engelbert Humperdinck in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, with UNIQUE BLACK AND WHITE BACK COVER, with Spanish-written song titles, COMPLETE WITH THE OUTER PLASTIC BAG and with UNIQUE ERRORS, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but for sure it’s still in a great condition, with a very nice cover and with the record still glossy, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 55 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! And keep in mind this is the authentical very first Chilean press!!! What a find!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
