Description
I have collected records since I was very young, however Iincreasingly I have realised that I have far too many, and soI have been slowly trying to rationalise my extensive collection over the years, I have sold many major rarities over the years, from major BEATLES and 60s rarities, through PUNK and PROG ROCK, CLASSICAL and BLUES. Basically I've had alot of very rare records and in dribs and drabs have sold them off. I've never had negative feedback, and had many repeat customers.
I will only post completely insured and tracked.
(My computer keyboard is currently faulty, so I'm writing this on my phone, hence descriptions will be shorter than usual!)
Here we have what must be one of the most enigmatic Beatles releases out there! This was the first recording released, made by Bert Kaempfert in Germany in June 1961 with Tony Sheridan, and first released in Germany in October 1961 (under the monika of "The Beat Brothers"), it was one fan asking to specially order that into a certain NEMs record shop in Liverpool, that made Mr. Brian Epstein look into them further! This recording basically sparked off a partnership that helped forge history, and with Epstein's help, this record was released in the UK on the 5th January 1962, making it the first record The Beatles ever released in the UK, and the first disc to actually carry "The Beatles'" name! These true first copies are extremely rare and very rarely come up for sale, they are most noticeable for their "broad" or "chubby" font, and the "&" sign. These sold next to none, and we're only reissued the following year, hot on the tails of the success of the first couple of Beatles Parlophone singles, these 1963 issues are still rare and sought after, but are no way in the same league as these broad fronted copies. The 1963 issues have a narrower title font more in keeping with the other Polydor singles, and have the more common "&" symbol. These broad fronted copies are truly a part of musical history!
Record Condition: VG- a general covering of light marks and hairlines etc, a few more noticeable, plays through great, with a little background static at quieter moments and the occasional tick etc. Label Conditions: G+ judge for yourself from the photos, sadly these early Polydor labels are highly textured and as such rather susceptable to the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune, (and also general handling wear!). Still fully legible, and completely free from graffiti and stickers (which seems to be a rarity with these!) But fairly rubbed, particularly around the rim, I'm guessing that this has been on a "stacking" system, but it could just have been from general early 60s handling... Either way, not a perfect looking copy, but still a copy if one of the most important records The Beatles would ever make, their UK debut!
