Condition : laminated cover on both sides shows some moderate ring wear, EX+ / vinyl has a white promotional label. Some little scuffs and hairlines affect minimally play with a few slight clicks, EX+

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge. I listen EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : colonna sonora tra le meno note di Morricone sebbene molto interessante sia per l'intrinseco ascolto che per le nuove sperimentazioni e lo sviluppo di idee musicali in fase ormai di completamento che caratterizzeranno molte sue composizioni nei primi anni settanta. In un film di gangsters prevalgono spesso sonorità cupe con atmosfere e temi inquieti e paurosi. Queste caratteristiche vengono risolte da Morricone con suoni isolati che sembrano prima sfuggire l'uno dall'altro e poi unirsi dando vita a brevi segmenti musicali arricchiti dal coro e/o da particolari effetti sonori su un generale tessuto percussivo e con il basso che guida il ritmo. Cito pochi brani: "Comandamenti per un Gangster" (a1), inizialmente con un misticheggiante coro supportato da percussioni e forti vibrazioni di chitarra, poi una cantilena femminile con parole incomprensibili quasi da rito di stregoneria ed effetti sonori somiglianti al rombo di un automobile. "Primo Comandamento: Spara" (a2) con ottimo riff del basso seguito dalle percussioni e l'infiltrazione di suoni brevi ma intensi. "Quinto Comandamento: Tre Pistole e Un Mitra" (b2) una delle tracce di maggior sperimentalità con effetti sonori, percussioni e accordi musicali appena abbozzati che sembrano vagare in una dimensione irreale. "Decimo Comandamento: Odio" (b7) con inserimenti dell'organo Hammond fra percussioni e basso.

Notes : one of the lesser-known soundtracks by Morricone although very interesting for both the intrinsic listening and for the new music experimentations and developmental concepts by now being completed that will characterize many of his compositions in the early seventies. The gangster movies include often gloomy music with distressing and frightening atmospheres and themes. These features are resolved by Morricone with isolated sounds which seem at first to escape each other and then join creating short music segments enriched by the chorus and/or by special sound effects on an overall percussive tapestry and  with the bass leading the rhythm. I mention a few tracks:  "Comandamenti per un Gangster" (a1), initially with a mystical chorus supported by percussions and heavy vibrations of the guitar, then a female singsong with incomprehensible words as though in a rite of sorcery and sound effects simulating a sort of car roar. "Primo Comandamento: Spara" (a2) with excellent bass riff accompanied by  percussions and the infiltration of short but intense sounds. "Quinto Comandamento: Tre Pistole e Un Mitra" (b2), one of the tracks of greater experimental character with sound effects followed by percussions and faint music chords that seem to wander in an unreal dimension. "Decimo Comandamento: Odio" (b7) with Hammond involvement within the sonorities of drums and bass.
