ERIC BURDON & THE ANIMALS - The Twain Shall Meet - EX very rare UK MGM Mono LP

The time has come to bite the bullet and sell more of my vinyl collection - some classical, some jazz, some pop, rock, folk & psych. I know it won't be appreciated by my daughter or the next generation, so I'm shifting it myself and hope I find good homes for it. The hard work is deciding what to let go first, but it will probably be duplicates, stuff I have on CD and items unplayed for ages and I'll pick at random from these so there should be a decent mix. You never know, there might just be something to suit your taste.
 
This listing is for a superb UK copy of Eric Burdon and the Animal's Twain shall meet - rare as hens' teeth, especially in such nice condition.

The Album:
Magnificent, under-rated piece of psychedelia from Eric & co., weird and wonderful at the same time - complete with sitar and bagpipes. This is a very early pressing of this album - probably one of the first couple of hundred off the press (it has 1G/1G first mother/first stamper codes - see footnote if you need further detail). 

Condition:
Cover:  Single sleeve, unlaminated, but very bright and clean, flipback. Light signs of ring wear but nothing serious. A one inch rub along the top edge and some minor laminate creases. Overall it's in very good order for its age, with no tears. Spine is strong and clearly legible. Pictures of front and back included so you can judge for yourself.
Labels: MGM yellow labels, bright and clean. A fair few spindle marks but not excessive No writing or stickers. Excellent.
Vinyl: Very nice glossy vinyl, retaining its original lustre and bearing just the odd customary paper scuff. Plays excellent with just the odd hint of static crackle in quiet patches / between tracks. I have never attempted to clean this album, so there's every chance that a good clean will improve playback even more by removing any dust and static..

Overall:
A very nice cover housing an excellent copy of this album - I'd guess that this might be professionally graded at (cover / vinyl) VG+ / EX.

Footnote re stampers:
For EMI 'family' records (including MGM, Columbia, Parlophone etc.) the Master is the matrix normally found at the 6 o’clock position (here the MG -1364/5 -1), the Mother is the number etched in the deadwax at the 9 o’clock location and the Stamper is identified by the letter(s) etched at the 3 o’clock postion. For their stampers, EMI used a substitution code: G R A M O P H L T D (Gramophone Ltd) where G=1, R=2, A=3, M=4, O=5, P=6, H=7, L=8, T=9 and D=0.  (Where you see more then one letter etched in the dead wax in the Stamper location, they simply combine - so e.g.  "PA" indicates 63rd Stamper). It follows of course that the ultimate early pressing of any EMI LP would be denoted with the code 1 G on both sides, where the '1' represents the first Mother and the 'G' denotes the first Stamper - i.e. one of maybe the first couple of hundred off the press
