·      ESQUERITA - THE FIRST, ONE AND ONLY, SELF-TITLED ALBUM ("ESQUERITA") – INSANELY RARE  ORIGINAL 1959 CAPITOL RECORDS MONO LP T-1186

·      AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE COVER:  THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS RARE ALBUM (APPARENTLY, A MAJOR-LEAGUE DIMWIT) TAPED THE SPLIT SEAMS WITH MULTIPLE PIECES OF OBNOXIOUS POSTAL PACKAGING PAPER TAPE IN SUCH A HIDEOUSLY UGLY MANNER (STAGGERED MULTIPLE PIECES ALL OVER THE PLACE, SOMETIMES OVERLAPPING WITH EACH OTHER) THAT WE HAD NO OTHER RECOURSE BUT TO COVER THE OFFENSIVE TAPE WITH BLACK TAPE ON THE FRONT SIDE, THUS MAKING THE COVER MINIMALLY PALATABLE AND TRUE TO FORM. IN OTHER WORDS, THE RECORD IS IN A MUCH BETTER SHAPE THAN THE COVER. PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION BELOW FOR MORE SPECIFIC DETAILS.

·      ORIGINAL U.S. PRESSING

·      ORIGINAL BLACK CAPITOL LABEL WITH MULTICOLORED SPECTRUM (“RAINBOW) BAND ALONG THE LABEL’S EDGE, CAPITOL LOGO ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE, AND TEXT PRINTED IN VERTICAL STRAIGHT LINE SEPARATING THE SPINDLE HOLE AND THE LOGO

An amazing album by the legendary Esquerita.

We all know that in an artist like himself, especially during the late 50's or early 60's, you are going to miss out a lot on the record. For instance, many tracks had "dirtier" versions performed live, but he couldn't speak like that on a Capitol Records album. Another thing was the fact he had a very powerful persona on stage, a fantastic showman and a shock for the time.

I know this record came out long after Little Richard's fame, but experts claim that he was actually influenced by Esquerita. The story goes that Richard used to be friends (and some say lover) with him, and that Esquerita brought Richard to make his high tuned screams. This is backed up by the fact that early Little Richard recordings were far from the classics, and that during the recording session in which he would later make Tutti Frutti, he was doing awful; he and the producer went to have lunch and Little Richard performed an XXX version of the song. The producer removed the dirty parts and then decided they should go for that one... it ended up being a hit song we still hear 60 years from that.

An unrecognized legend I would have loved to see perform.

·                          CONDITION:

·                          THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+(+) . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters) ; SIDE 2 IS IN A BETTER CONDITION THAN THE SIDE 1 AND PROBABLY DESERVES TO BE GRADED VG++

(b)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)         The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(d)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

THE COVER IS ONLY ABOUT GOOD+ (G+).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has all three seams (top, bottom and spine) partially split in indeterminable lengths and taped with the white (now yellowed) wide packaging paper tape, which can be obtrusive; the tape has been covered with a layer of black tape on the front panel

-       Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on all three seams.

-       Cover has three corners slightly worn / dinged

-       Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2  (front side) and 4 (back side)

-       Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-       Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease)  in one of the corners.   (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)

NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THE  COVER
