This is a 1972 1st Pressing of Big Star #1 Record and this LP is quite rare, especially in this condition. An OG. Promo label. The vinyl is in EX Condition. Play-graded on the Linn LP12 with Lyra Kleos cartridge. This is a not a NM "forever" copy, but it is close & plays VERY solid. Has a few marks and scuffs and plays EX with only the most intermittent crackle between a couple of tracks, and a 25-30 second stretch during “Try Again” with a reoccurring pop.
Includes “The more you learn the less you know” Inscription in the dead wax.
The jacket is EX With very slight front ring wear and only VERY slight corner wear as shown. It is otherwise pristine and is the nicest jacket I have ever seen for this album and I have been collecting records since 1967.
These are getting harder to find and commanding higher prices. If you know much about this record, you know about Alex Chilton, Chris Bell and their legendary Beatles influenced power pop. What you may not know is that sonically it is one of the greatest recordings of all time, with Ardent studios’ Commitment to perfection. Great songs and great musicianship are present, but the real source of the big star legend is in the audiophile standard of these recordings. You will never hear a better sounding record.
I grade Conservatively according to goldmine standards. This is a true EX copy. Will be cleaned on the VPI before shipping.
This record is part of a collection of about 1000 records that I’m selling from my personal collection. Most of the collection is near mint NM vinyl. Rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, country and R&B Albums will all be included in this sale. Please send an email if you are looking for something specific.
