Description
This is a rare original sealed stereo 1st pressing of the artist Eagle (who previously recorded as Beacon Street Union), Come Under Nancy's Tent, released in 1970 by Janus Records. The group as Beacon Street Union had previously recorded two LPs for MGM Records. This LP is very rare having a current book value for a near mint copy of $60.
The Beacon Street Union were a 1960s psychedelic era rock band, named for a street in their native Boston, whose original members John Lincoln Wright (vocals, percussion; died 4 December 2011), Paul Tartachny (guitar, vocals), Wayne Ulaky (bass, vocals), Robert Rhodes (keyboards, bass), and Richard Weisberg (drums) all went to Boston University. With the exception of a few rock standards, their diverse music was composed by group members, primarily Wright and Ulaky.
MGM Records promoted them as part of the so-called "Bosstown Sound shepherded by record producer Alan Lorber, (along with the groups Ultimate Spinach and Orpheus). The group met with little success, although their first album The Eyes Of The Beacon Street Union charted at #75 on May 4, 1968. The band relocated to New York, where, after a second album, The Clown Died in Marvin Gardens, Wright, Ulaky, Weisberg, and Rhodes recorded a further album as Eagle.
The LP is sealed with corners on all four sides sharp. There are two breathe holes on the back cover. While the LP is sealed the shrink wrap is open about two inches in the middle of the cover mouth and less than an inch at the top of the cover neat the mouth. There is also missing shrink near the top cover at the mouth but no damage to the cover is evident.
The LP is being sold without reserve and payment is expected within 3 days of auction close. Return of the LP will only be accepted if the LP is returned still sealed.
