God Holds The Clock—(Gilmer) Eddie Mounce’s musical career began in a most unusual man- ner. At the age of five, while visiting with his father at the home of friends, Eddie spotted a guitar hanging on the wall. His re- action was typical of a five-year old: he cried for the guitar. Later his father purchased this same instrument for him, and since that time, tens of thousands have been blessed by his musical ability. Eddie’s love for gospel music springs from the influence of a Christian home upon his life. He was born near Charleston, Mis- sissippi and spent his childhood in that area. When he was twelve years old, conviction seized his heart and he surrendered his life to God. While still in his teens, Eddie felt the call to the ministry and began preaching before he was twenty. Since that time he has successfully combined his talents as a musician and singer with liis calling from God. This unique combination has been a source of inspiration and spiritual blessing to those with whom he has been associated. For a number of years, his efforts were devoted entirely to the evangelistic ministry. This work took him into eighteen states, including Hawaii, and the Caribbean area. His devotion to God and sincere desire to use his talent for the glory of God has been a particular inspiration to young people. He worked with youth groups in Iowa and Georgia, and has been active in Christian camping and camp meetings, serving as evangelist, teacher and counsellor. From the evangelistic field, Eddie entered pastoral work in 1962. While serving in his first pastorate at Dahlonega, Georgia, he was chosen the most outstanding young man of the county by the Chamber of Commerce and was listed in the 1964 edition of OUT- STANDING YOUNG MEN OF AMERICA. From Dahlonega, he moved to Ft. Myers, Florida to continue his pastoral ministry. In addition to his effective pulpit ministry, his musical’ talents have not gone without recognition. He began recording for the Broadcast Record Club in 1958, and by popular vote of the club members, was chosen the top singer for the club in 1963. Besides his recordings, concert audiences across the nation have thrilled to his songs of praise to the Master who has made possible all of these accomplishments. Although best known for his impressive renditions as a soloist, Eddie has also worked with various groups and accompanied sev- eral recording artists with the guitar and other instruments. Eddie is married to the former Genelle Walker of Perry, Florida. Genelle. a talented musician in her own right and a dedicated Christian, has made valuable contributions to Eddie’s success both in the ministry and the promotion of his musical career.
