Ever fancied owning one of the 1st Ella copies ever pressed? Better look out for those 1G copies. Under the Gramophone coding sequence the 1G's are the very 1st stamper employed. The copy we have, here, is a 1st stamper copy [1G both sides]. Matrix A2/B3. No SIUK statement - as you would expect for true '63. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono cover. IF you NEED TOP AUDIO - Then pay attention!
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In unbelievable condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of trace light marks per side... absolutely nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slightest deviation. Let me just qualify this...anything remotely close to Ex+ is a near miracle. These copies were usually played to death and just surviving that sort of time frame is a major undertaking. BUT this copy is a total time traveller. It is just acing it throughout. A solitary tick in one isolated spot per side. If you need to hear scat the way it was intended - by one of the best formers of the 20th Century..[if not THE best]....then you'd need to take a listen to this copy. TOP DRAW all the way. Difficult to put down. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Vg+) Lovely clean and flat front cover. One slight crease - nothing unpalatable. The rear has avoided most of the ageing process - a touch of lightest foxing. Slight horizontal crease across the middle - is not structural. The spine is 99% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
