You are bidding on a VERY RARE King Biscuit Flower USA RADIO PROMO ONLY 3-Sided 2LP Set of ELVIS COSTELLO & The Attractions LIVE AT THE HOPE & ANCHOR CLUB, LONDON recorded 14th MAY 1980, Show number 323 as shown by the matrix number in the runout plastic on each side - KB-323 A/B/C respectively. See pic of side A matrix.  This unique recording has never been available as a commercial release and is only officially available on this rare set that was produced for broadcasting the week of 13th July 1980 by the D.I.R Broadcasting network for distribution to USA radio station who subscribed to the D.I.R. service. 

Following the broadcast the radio station was supposed to return the discs to D.I.R. However, it was inevitable that some stations did not comply with that requirement from time to time. As a result, extremely limited numbers of these type of records would be left in circulation. I am uncertain of exactly how many would have been pressed for any given show but there were approximately 300 radio stations within the D.I.R. network of varying genres. So, one can assume that only sufficient copies were pressed to satisfy the stations that would have been interested in any given show, depending on whether the artist fit that particular station's genre base. Out of those pressed some would have been returned, some would have been destroyed by the station and the odd ones would have been kept by a discerning DJ or other employee. So, we are looking at a very small number that survived.

The LP's came in plain, white, thick, die-cut card outer sleeves and plain, white inner sleeves. They were accompanied by a Cue Sheet for the DJ's/Station's use. Each side features radio ads for various products, eg, Honda motorcycles, Pioneer speakers etc as well as ads of the up and coming broadcast of the featured Live Show. There are two 'Pre-broadcast' ads for this show at the end of side A which required the DJ to physically place the stylus at the beginning of them, as the groove of the main section of that side had finished and prevents the stylus from running on into the ads. (If that makes sense?)

The other thing of note about this concert is that Martin Belmont of Graham Parker & The Rumour stands in for Steve Nieve who had been injured in a car accident in LA. The sound of the band is therefore very different with Steve's keyboard replaced by another guitar. Plus, there are some great and rarely performed cover versions by EC in the set. The condition of the vinyl is Ex-. There are 3 hairline, almost parallel marks on side B. They run from near the runout plastic to approx half way across the playing area. However, on playing there are only the odd minor pop/crackle which does not impinge on the audio much at all. Otherwise the whole set would be mint. I have highlighted the marks with red arrows on one of the photos.

When I purchased any record I placed the record in an anti-static sleeve and outside of the main sleeve and housed the record and sleeve in a protective poly outer sleeve, which is how you will receive it.
