ELVIS PRESLEY – “ROUSTABOUT” – (LPM-2999) – SCARCE “Silver Top”, Hollywood Pressing from 1964
RECORD: VG and retaining much original gloss. There are just a bit too many surface scratches & scuffs to warrant the VG+ grade. This Hollywood pressing should play quite well in spite of the aesthetic detractions, but expect some random “ticks”, especially in softer areas of the music. This is a First Pressing from October, 1964 with the SCARCE all-Silver printing on the label. These were exclusive to the Hollywood pressing plant and were pressed for a short period of time before switching to the newly designed “White Top” labels. Indianapolis and Rockaway had already done this prior to the release of this Original Soundtrack recording. The labels are clean and original, with just a few spindle marks noticed. Unfortunately, there were no hit singles from this album, although “ROUSTABOUT / ONE TRACK HEART” was issued to radio stations as a DJ Promotional item. The matrix numbers end with 3S/12S.
COVER: NM- with 100% of the original shrink wrap still intact! There are a couple minor tears in the shrink at the open end, on the upper & lower seam area, but they are short in length. Original price sticker remnant is observed to the upper right corner. Very light, and minor, corner and edge wear is noticed at the open end of the cover. This is a very original and highly presentable cover that has been well preserved by the original shrink wrap. This album is a “must-have” for any collector of Elvis Presley records and/or memorabilia!
INNER SLEEVE: The original “ELVIS’ GREAT LP CATALOG” (40A) inner sleeve from the era. There is one side split and one bottom split, however, but no writing.
