Very good grading overall for this ULTRA RARE Italy only release from May 1964. Italy fantastic & unique PS from Viva Las Vegas. This is the 2nd RAREST Elvis italian release just behind the "King Of Rock'n'Roll" 1956 Triple EP Box.
THE STORY : this was a try-out made by italian RCA as test-marketing on attempting to increase the Extended Playing 45rpm' sales. For the Picture Sleeve of this peculiar EP the italian RCA decided to use quite the same layouts as for those already used for the newly Elvis releases such as the "Kiss Me Quick" U.S. single and the "Viva Las Vegas" U.S. EP, believing that coupling such re-releases ("Rip It Up" was orginally put out on the EP format in 1957) with a totally renewed layout would have catched the eye of potential buyers. But that was not to happen! The EP format (and particularly Elvis) did not appeal anymore in 1964 resulting a FLOP the attempt made by the italian RCA to push up Elvis sales (as well as for other RCA artists) using this obsolete economy phonographic support. This EP was pressed in no more than 500 COPIES way back in May 1964 mainly distribuited to the few major record & TV-HIFI shops which would have the possibility to afford & order such issues from the 1964 italian RCA catalogue. Well the 99% of them went unsold and sent back to RCA which gave instructions to send for pulping such useless EP's inventory soonafter. So less than an handful of these have survived untill now hence their extremely rarity !
THE GRADING : the PS been PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED on front by the Elvis right eye little portion OF ONLY 1,3cm x 0,5cm. Very little restoring made in a SUPERB way. Apart from that and few small writings the PS is still in VG condition with NO SPLITS & 90% LEGIBLE SPINE. Due to ECONOMY QUALITY PAPER used In 1964 by "U. Pinto" it's NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to find such release from VG UPWARDS, infact I never had & found a copy better than VG in more than 25 yrs of collecting ! This is perhaps the BEST I EVER HAD & LAST ONE AVAILABLE FOR SALE ! Not to be missed if you still after such Super Rare Elvis italian original vinyl release.
