Description

An original reissue of Elvis material from the late 50's. This is a 1st pressing on RCA Silver spot from 1963 as they tried out a slightly different format for the artwork. The track listing is identical to the original HMV copies from '56 or '57. The first issue I tend to find with Elvis is....all the copies are wrecked. By that I mean usually the record AND the cover. Finding a decent well preserved copy is harder than you might imagine. Matrix 1B/1B. Stampers 1I/1M - indicating that this copy is one of the 1st specimens from this new reworking of the 50's material. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono cover with three flipbacks and a pinched spine. 
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In really nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side, and a small radial mark. FULLY tested  - nothing troublesome that causes much of an issue at all. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly Excellent level of playback with a couple of minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Most tracks will play clean up around Excellent - and sound really marvellous. But I did detect a touch of some light static background in 'First In Line'. Nothing invasive and nothing that takes away from the enjoyment. A couple of minor ticks in 'Shep' - which otherwise plays superb. Overall an absolute cracker of a copy - most copies will not play this well consistently. It's the late fifties all over again! 
Cover (Ex-) A real bugger to find in decent condition. Nice clean and flat front without laminate lift or creasing - impressive. Now you will note from a quick look online that most copies age on the rear. So finding one that has escaped the worst of it unusual. The rear is still white with just the flipbacks just tarnishing a little. All flipbacks are secure and intact. The spine is 100% intact, but with light ageing. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
