Johann Sebastian Bach: The six suites for unaccompanied violoncello.

German Eurodisc stereo-pressings with grey resp. golden labels. 4 LP set with booklet.

Labelwise this is a mixed set, with record No 1 & 3 having golden, Nos 2 & 4 having light grey labels.

Usually the grey pressings are said to be the earlier pressings, but it can actually not be easily determined for this set, neither from the weight of the vinyls, nor from the matrix nos. I'll list the facts for you so you can make up your own mind:

Record 1: (76 071 XK): Golden label, A3 & B6 -matrixes, weight: 168 grams.

Record 2: (76 073 XK): Grey label, A2 & B2 -matrixes, weight: 165 grams

Record 3: (76 075 XK): Golden label, A1 & B1 -matrixes, weight: 165 grams

Record 4: (76 077 XK): Grey label, A2 & B1 -matrixes, weight: 135 grams.

Eurodisc's boxes often contained both different labels in one box in a transitional period, but as the third LP has first pressing matrixes, it seems that the label can not, at least not always, be used to determine what exactly has been manufactured earlier.

Be that as it may: this definitely is a pretty early set!

• Condition Box: EX to NM . Virtually no wear to this unlaminated cardboard-box.

• Condition Vinyl: NM.  Pristine condition. Two small visible, but entirely audible marks, perfect besides. Maybe listened to once or twice, but probably only to the first LP. A very close to perfect set!

• Condition Booklet: EX to NM. Mild handling-wear.

This didn't sell the first time as my reserve-price was too high. That's why it's relisted now without reserve!

About my record-grading:

All records are described as accurately as possible and I will always prefer a more detailed depiction of the actual status, but usually I’ll only visually grade the records.
