FANTASIA - THIS OLD TOWN
Greenwood Records, UK 1988
Really great and entirely charming private press synth pop LP from Folkestone (East Kent, UK) - based analogue synth / vocal duo. Pictured here on the cover gigging to a handful of bemused passers by in Folkestone high street circa 1986. A much more consistent album, with a more melancholic side than their marginally better known second album 'Pictures In My Mind', despite a few endearingly goofy moments. Synthesizer playing and melodies are exemplary throughout, carrying almost a melancholic euro synth wave / italo-disco vibe in places (fans of the melodic minimal / wave of french synth duo comix will find much to enjoy here, and a few passages call to mind p.lion's famous italo disco productions, for example). I don't really want to part with this one, but needs must so here it is.
