FEAR ITSELF s/t Original 1969 Blues Rock Psych lp ELLEN McILWAINE
1969/USA/Dot Records DLP-25942…..here’s a nice clean original pressing of this heavy blues psych lp. The gatefold cover is solid and clean with a clean 1” bottom center seam split, there is a rounded scratch mark top right and a couple of light scuffs under the name, the cover seems to not be cut right as seen from the back where the front cover overlaps the back, it seems to be put together straight as the spine writing is fine and legible, small delete hole top left corner, inside cover slick is clean but glued off center, looks nice. The vinyl is in strong Excellent condition with a handful of super light inaudible hairlines mainly on one side. The record plays clean with little noise and nice clean fidelity! Side one label has a couple of light spindle marks, otherwise the labels are clean. A nice copy of this elusive heavy lp! Please check my auctions for other rock and psych lp’s. Fear Itself was a short-lived psychedelic blues-rock band formed by Ellen McIlwaine in the late 1960s in Atlanta, Georgia. The band featured McIlwaine singing lead vocals as well as performing harp, rhythm guitar and organ. Chris Zaloom performed lead guitar, Steve Cook played bass guitar, and Bill McCord was on drums. (Steve Cook left Fear Itself after this album was recorded and Paul Album joined the group playing bass guitar.) Inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Cream, the group's sound was unique due in large part to the McIlwaine's gospel-bluesy voice and lyrics. The group performed at Woodstock Festival in 1969, and eventually separated after the bass guitarist Paul Album was killed by a drunk driver. McIlwaine later moved to Canada and started a solo career. The band released one self-titled album in 1969 on vinyl by Dot Records.
GRADING
MINT: I consider New Unplayed or Sealed items only.
M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.
EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.
VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
