Description
Very obscure UK private pressing (on the Ray label) from April 1967 of four local folk club acts - Jennie & Judy, 3 Folk Equal, the Wayfaring Three and Ian Highfield. Six of the twelve tracks have lead female vocals. Like No. 9 Bread Street and Left-Handed Marriage, this was made in 1967, when the musical attitudes of the trad folk club circuit were being infiltrated by the burgeoning underground scene. As a result, the sound on the album is a mixture of the traditional (the folk/blues standard 'Cocaine') and original songs like 'Tristessa' and 'Birmingham Boy', which is about a beatnik/hippie persecuted for his long hair! Really primitive package with paste-on front and back sleeves, would guess that this was a 99-copies-only pressing that was sold/given away to friends, family and patrons of the folk club. Lovely copy in at least Ex condition, would be very surprised if this album is openly offered ever again!
