I am parting with some of my treasured LPs. Here's a treasure from 1969. It's one of the great MOTHERS LP's, and one of their last as FRANK would lose the band in 1970 when he embarked on a new venture with himself and a new band. This LP is as great as it gets, with oodles of sarcasm, dissonance, crazy instrumentation, and the like. But ZAPPA pulls from the chaos, and brings it all together in a one of a kind way. If you have a free mind, and are ready to be blown away by a unique work of art, this is the LP for you!! Trust me on this one..
Finding the Blue label BIZZARE copies are difficult. Especially in NM type condition. These LPs were for incredibly special people of the time, and the one's who bought this knew what they were buying, and they loved it and played it. This is a very nice copy. The cover is nice, but has a bend on the bottom right corner about 1" in. The spine and top seam are beautiful. The bottom seam under the cover bend shows wear. The gatefold is beautiful, but the cover bend is evident. The ORIGINAL INNER is near mint, and with a given that there was a record in it, so as usual there are some creases to that. The ORIGINAL POSTER is MINT. The labels are clean and beautiful, as is the glossy vinyl that is clean and plays beautifully. It is NEAR MINT, on side 1 and VG++ on side 2 where there are a few faint sounds here and there which may be small hairlines. The music rises way above that issue, and this is a great playing original copy that I almost never see the poster with.
This is a keeper of a copy. Let's face it, Zappa LPs didn't sell well, but were incredible. Finding these in such great shape close to 40 years after release is a great find. I am a big Zappa aficionado, and I grab great Zappa LPs all the time, even though I own them all, and then some. He was a treasure of an artist, who was able to march to the beat of his own drum. He was making music that both amused him, and that challenged him. He wasn't making music to sell records or get rich. These LPs are works of art that I hope someone will be turned onto as I was in the mid 70's when Zappa became the most important musical influence in my life.
I love original original pressings because I feel every LP is of it's time and place. The vinyl, and record pressings are all from that moment in time, and no re-pressing or re-mastering will ever make the sound better for me.
