Although called 'Hot Rats', this is in fact Zappa & The Mothers (mainly those that play on the Hot Rats LP) performing 'Chunga's Revenge' material for the first time at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles on 7th March 1970. 

 

The LP of Chunga's Revenge was not actually recorded until July 1970 and was released in October that year; and featured different musicians to the ones that play on this earlier live recording. 

 

Musicians on this March 1970 recording are FZ, Sugarcane Harris, Ian Underwood, Aynsley Dunbar & Jeff Simmonds.

Vinyl: Play tested. Considering that this is an unofficial recording, the reproduction is really good. It is a mono reproduction which helps with the sound. Rates as Excellent for a live unofficial recording - play it loud to produce the best results.

Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.

Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc

Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
