Description
Fraternity – Flaming Galah LP
Thank you for looking at my item.
Here on offer is one of Australia’s most sought after progressive / blues / rock albums of the 70s. Fraternity were South Australia’s premier progressive band. It was also a launching pad for ACDC’s legendary singer Bon Scott. After a stint in Australia’s bubblegum pop music band, The Valentines, Bon Scott graduated to the musically creative and innovative Fraternity. If you have never seen Fraternity, you can see a couple of live tracks on YouTube.
Band members include:
· Bon Scott – Vocals
· John Eyers – harmonica
· Bruce Howe – bass
· John Bisset – organ
· Sam See – piano/guitar
· John Freeman – drum
· Mick Judd - guitar
This album entitled Flaming Galah was Fraternity’s second album and was issued in 1972 on the RCA label SL102038. It has a great gatefold cover which includes a small history of the band.
Songs include: (I have attempted to grade each track in terms of audio quality).
· Welfare Boogie (VG)
· Annabelle (VG)
· Seasons of Change (F – some clicks)
· If you got it (F – some clicks)
· You have a God (VG)
· Hemming’s Farm (G)
· Raglan’s Folly (F – crackly background)
· Getting Off (G+)
· Somerville RIP (VG)
· Canyon Suite (VG-)
CONDITION
Vinyl – Some scuffing and minor marks. Writing on the side 1 label. Definitely does not repeat or jump. Most tracks play well. As indicated above some tracks have some light clicks and Raglan’s Folly does have some crackle. The music still wins out. A professional clean could improve some of these minor imperfections – Good.
Cover – The cover has some minor scuffing and writing on the inside of the gatefold cover – VG+
In conclusion although I live in the home city of this band, this album rarely turns up. A genuine scarce progressive rock jewel in the crown. A mega rare album that is better than a gap filler but does have some minor flaws.
