FUCHSIA
"FUCHSIA"
(Original 1971 UK Stereo First press LP on PEGASUS PEG 8)
This auction is for the Ultra Rare Original self-titled FUCHSIA LP released in 1971 on UK Pegasus Records (PEG 8....matrix nos A1-U,B1-U). This LP is not a re-issue......it is an original UK 1st PRESSING!!!! This legendary and magnificent FUCHSIA LP is a top notch early 1970's UK progressive / folk-psych album with dark heavy progressive moves. Fuchsia played a unique brand of prog / folk rock.......musically It's very tricky to describe!! The line up contains 2 girl violinists / vocalists, cello, harmonium and fuzzy electric guitars for a start! - At times the music is dark and very complex with interweaving melodies - strange lyrics inspired by Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast Novels I believe........I can't think of any other albums that sound like it........lighter parts of COMUS perhaps......as stated above it's very difficult to completely classify this highly compelling Fuchsia album.
A truly superb album, hardly ever shows up now, especially in such Excellent Condition as this original UK Pegasus Records 1st pressing is in!

Condition:
Cover: VG+ near Excellent (The unlaminated, matt dark textured sleeve,is in Very Good + near excellent condition. There is some slight disc ringwear (nothing serious) on the front and back (as usual with this Black matt sleeve which is quite delicate/fragile at the best of times). The spine, along with the top and bottom edges, has some small scuffs and shelf wear rubbing. There are minor light creases near the lower corners. The beautiful sleeve, designed by Pete Rhodes, printed and made by the E.J.Day Group,London and Bedford,is made of very fragile textured paper which has a soft grainy feel)
Labels: Mint- (Crisp and clean totally unmarked mint- condition with only a couple of very feint, barely visible spindle lines........As with the Vertigo label,Side A is the logo only, and Side B has the track listings for both sides)
Vinyl: Excellent (The vinyl is in a lovely bright and shiny EXCELLENT CONDITION.Under very strong light there are just a few very faint surface marks and minor inner sleeve hairlines, but no scratches, bubbles, scuffs etc..I've played the LP all the way through today and it plays superbly throughout .The LP has been played lightly played from new.....as stated it plays superbly with terrific fidelity......A lovely original copy of this extremely RARE and impossibly hard to find FUCHSIA LP)
*All records are strictly graded under direct halogen light to UK 'Record Collector' standards.I play every record I sell before listing and try my very best to describe any visual and audible faults (if any).Unless stated, all records lie 100% flat & play without any distortion, jumps or sticks. All records sold are from my own 40+ year private collection*
Notes: "FUCHSIA" - A stunning album, absolutely essential LP for serious collectors of the early 70's UK prog / psych / folk genre.......Definitely a CLASSIC from the British 70's underground scene!! Hardly ever shows up now and ultra rare as an original UK first pressing on the highly collectable Pegasus record label!! The album you will be bidding on is a very rare album (their sole LP) from the legendary English Progressive band FUCHSIA . Led by songwriter Tony Durant, their unusual configuration comprised a three-piece (male) rock band and three (female) string players!! This very rare slice of early 1970's English acid folk/art progressive rock features a mixture of male and female vocals and contains complex whimsical prog/folk arrangements with electric guitars, cello and violins!! This is a fantastic record to listen too, quite unlike most other acid/progressive folk records you will ever hear... It hardly sold any copies at all back in 1971 and very few copies were ever pressed. This is thus a very rare record, that only turns up very occasionally, even on eBay. What's more, this vinyl is in really excellent condition!!! The cool 1970's chunky vinyl is visually and aurally stunning!!! It shines with that 'just pressed' look and feel!!! It really is an awesome 1st press copy of a very cool LP that just never shows up today - It's as simple as that - the original UK Pegasus 1st pressing of 'Fuchsia' by Fuchsia. Complete with it's original textured E. J. Day sleeve!!! Copies of this record have all but disappeared now in the UK, and to find one in this vinyl condition is almost impossible!!! Don't miss out on this opportunity...This LP is on many collectors 'wants' lists, very difficult to find as an original 1st pressing! A great FUCHSIA LP which would be a MAJOR addition to any serious British prog / folk collection. This is a lovely copy overall, one of the very best acid prog/folk albums of the classic era.
This is a very rare opportunity to own a great and very highly sought after album ~ Get it while you can,it's a must have, absolutely essential UK 70's LP in lovely condition.
OVERALL A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL EXAMPLE OF THE VERY RARE & MUCH SOUGHT AFTER SOLE ALBUM OF PROGRESSIVE ACID FOLK ROCK BY FUCHSIA ISSUED ON THE HIGHLY COLLECTABLE PEGASUS RECORD LABEL IN 1971!!

"I am disposing of my own personal record collection from the late 1960's and early 1970's, which have been in storage and consequently never played since the early 1980's. I am using the Record Collector Grading System to the best of my ability and will gladly refund if you are not satisfied with my judgement"
