Description
SUPER SCARCE CHICAGO DOO WOP/SOUL from 1958. This is an unplayed promo copy, spindled for many years, but very clean and dust free. the label is less yellow than in the pic, which is due to underexposed pic. There are a few paper scuffs on the outer edge and a single hairline on the B-side that may not sound. You can hear the actual 45 below in unfiltered true mono. This may be one of the better surviving examples of this 45 and even though the pressings and recordings were primitive, very nice fidelity can be gotten from a pristine example, rivaling the aged master tapes and or archived copies of this single with FAR superior sound. No one knows what became of the soulful ten year old girl who fronted this group, adding to the value and mystery of this scarce bit of soul that saw some airplay in the Chicago area, but no chart action. Churned up and spat out by the media machines of the 50's the group has gained some cult status with it's mysterious young singer, and after the record companies exhausted the few singles that were in the can, the group and it's lead singer have been MIA since 1961.

Well in the case of many major labels, promos were pressed separate from stock copies. In many cases, such as A&M, CBS and MOTOWN etc, they were pressed on pure virgin vinyl, unlike STYRENE which was used for their stock copies. The sound and quality is markedly better and not to mention the rarity of them, in many cases being one out of many thousand copies. So if you see "audiophile" posted in my 45 auctions, you can be sure it's a high quality VINYL pressing, not a styrene copy. Most of these have been in storage, in their original mailer envelopes with sequential numbered discs. If a 45 is listed MINT, that means it appears as NEW-OLD-STOCK in its original jacket.
