This handsome and rare LP from Westminster (WL 5266, US pressing, red/silver script label – ED1, mono – no stereo edition exists) features the splendid pianist Edith Farnadi’s noble account of Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B minor S. 178, coupled with the same composer’s Valse Impromptu S. 213 and Mephisto Waltz S. 216a, vividly recorded in 1953 and sounding truly spendid here.

Of her Liszt solo recital that took in the composer’s Two Legends, Ballade No. 2, and other works, the critic S.P. in his review for the December 1964 issue of The Gramophone: “A Liszt recital well worth having: I am glad that it has been reissued. Edith Farnadi, a remarkable pianist, is absolutely attuned to the Liszt spirit.”

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD-. There is a 1/2” split to the spine, minor corner wear, and discoloration/aging, but that is all. There are no bends, owners' markings, or other defects and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is occasional light surface noise, in general the playback remains quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
