All Vinyl items up for auction are from Pert's store, “Frank’s Music Collectibles” and the wholesale outlet, “Frank’s Music Distributors” from the 1980’s and 1990’s.

All vinyl records were placed in plastic sleeves to protect the cardboard sleeves.

We imported vinyl from Japan, Europe and UK as most items were shipped to us with no shrink wrap (as US record company's) covering, thus protecting the cardboard sleeve.  Most Japanese records had an open poly vinyl thin bag that provided protection, but still was “unsealed” while being “brand new”.  Some Japanese Records were heated shrink wrap plastic (like US Record releases) with a "R" or "T" within a white square only on the back plastic shrink wrap to protect and signify "Factory Sealed" Records.  When "Import Records" arrived naked or unprotected, we would place the items/records in unheated shrink wrap plastic wrap without shrinking (heating) the plastic.   This would protect the item from any “shop wear”. All of our vinyl that is listed as “Still Sealed – New - Mint minus” is in fact – unplayed, untouched and in the exact condition we received the item from the country of origin went shipped in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. 

"Imports" had their own specific locations in record stores in the '70's and '80's and were collectible to the fans as they could have different covers/jackets, tracks or bonus tracks.  We would like to invigorate the Import high that is no longer influencing the minds and wallets of the music buying public.  Please write and give me your thoughts on "Imports" and let me know what YOU think...thanks!

 The vinyl we are selling have the “RKS” etchings and “STERLING” Stamped in all four-vinyl trail-off areas – signifying “original 2015 pressings”.  This detail provides the authentication of your purchase as original pressings.  The “Dioramic Meta-Musical Funtime” gatefold jacket on tricoloured vinyl including activated midi player which plays the SAP version of the opening track when the gatefold sleeve is opened (has been verified to play when you fully open the GateFold Sleeve, just as it did years ago.)  You can read the following if you want, unless eBay stops us from “too long description” …which happens to us when Pert gets mouthy…!

Thank you for buying the fancy, colored-vinyl, deluxe version of Father John Misty’s new album, I Love You, Honeybear! Also, we are sorry that many of these fancy, colored-vinyl, deluxe versions of Father John Misty’s new album, I Love You, Honeybear are, it appears, warped! In our efforts to replicate the “wow factor” of such legendary album packages as the Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers zipper cover by Andy Warhol, we wound up accidentally replicating the “defect factor” of the same. In short, the extra, bulging thickness of the pop-up art in the Father John Misty jacket creates a lump that, when the LPs are sealed and packed, pushes into the LPs, causing the vinyl to warp and making that handsome, painstakingly and expensively produced jacket an elaborate record-destroying device. This oversight, and any attendant suffering, is our fault, and we are very sorry. We promise to be less ambitious in the future.

We are currently making 100% non-warped, colored-vinyl LPs to replace these damaged LPs. We hope to have a delivery date for those soon, and we will update this page as soon as we have that information.

Please contact your place of purchase for instructions on how to obtain replacement LPs or refunds where replacements are not available. If you got it from Sub Pop’s online store please email (this is what we did) with your name, address, and order number, and we will ship you replacement LPs as soon as they arrive, which will likely be sometime in mid-March.  And, if you bought this album from Father John Misty’s website please contact them for replacement LPs here: cannot provide due to eBay’s policy.  Please keep the jacket – we will be replacing only the vinyl itself. To reiterate, if your copy of I Love You, Honeybear is warped and you got your album anywhere other than Sub Pop’s website, or Father John Misty’s website, please contact your place of purchase.

In the meantime, please accept our apologies, and we hope you can enjoy the unmolested music of Father John Misty via the download code provided with your LP, and maybe also at one of his exciting, upcoming live shows.

Other things worth mentioning here and related to Father John Misty’s new and very good I Love You, Honeybear album…

In response to several emails on the subject, here’s info on something we did with this album on LP (both the deluxe and regular editions) that was NOT an accident: due to its length and the wide audio spectrum of the recording, we at Sub Pop, together with Father John Misty, decided that the album sounded much better cut at 45 RPM over 2 pieces of vinyl. Though we all prefer the listening experience of a single piece of vinyl, we decided in this case to prioritize audio quality (an admittedly very subjective determination). You’re welcome!

Limited edition release in “Dioramic Meta-Musical Funtime” gatefold jacket on tricoloured vinyl including activated midi player which plays the SAP version of the opening track when the gatefold sleeve is opened. = Verified as functioning

Includes download credit for digital download as well as come with a fold-out poster, featuring a collage of Emma Tillman’s intimate photos, designed by Alia Penner and an extensive “Exercises for Listening” written by the artist.

Sales of this original pressing were discontinued shortly after release when it was discovered that the elaborate packaging was causing warping and other problems with the vinyl. Sub Pop reissued the album in 2016 with the LPs packaged outside the sleeve and protective cardboard placed into the pocket to provide maximum separation between the vinyl and the popup feature in the gatefold, re-packaged in a resealable sleeve without the heart-shaped sticker found on the original pressing.

With the new repressing of the deluxe, tri-colored vinyl that is now available again for purchase, we ask just one favor that will also serve as your only and final warning: The deluxe, pop-up-art-displaying jacket WILL warp the new vinyl if said vinyl is inserted back into the jacket sleeves and inserted into your record shelf. To prevent this, we ask that you keep the new LPs outside the deluxe jacket, in the separate white jackets that they ship in. Think of these 2 parts of the same deluxe package as “neighbors, not roommates” on your shelf, and your records will remain unwarped for many years to come (assuming you don’t leave them out in extreme temperatures or expose them to other forces of nature that would normally cause a record to warp…)!

“I Love You, Honeybear is a concept album about a guy named Josh Tillman who spends quite a bit of time banging his head against walls, cultivating weak ties with strangers and generally avoiding intimacy at all costs. This all serves to fuel a version of himself that his self-loathing narcissism can deal with. We see him engaging in all manner of regrettable behavior.

“In a parking lot somewhere he meets Emma, who inspires in him a vision of a life wherein being truly seen is not synonymous with shame, but possibly true liberation and sublime, unfettered creativity. These ambitions are initially thwarted as jealousy, self-destruction and other charming human character traits emerge.  Josh Tillman confesses as much all throughout.

“The album progresses, sometimes chronologically, sometimes not, between two polarities: the first of which is the belief that the best love can be is finding someone who is miserable in the same way you are and the end point being that love isn’t for anyone who isn’t interested in finding a companion to undertake total transformation with. I won’t give away the ending, but sex, violence, profanity and excavations of the male psyche abound.  

“My ambition, aside from making an indulgent, soulful, and epic sound worthy of the subject matter, was to address the sensuality of fear, the terrifying force of love, the unutterable pleasures of true intimacy, and the destruction of emotional and intellectual prisons in my own voice.  Blammo.

“This material demanded a new way of being made, and it took a lot of time before the process revealed itself.  The massive, deranged shmaltz I heard in my head, and knew had to be the sound of this record, originated a few years ago while Emma and I were hallucinating in Joshua Tree; the same week I wrote the title track.  I chased that sound for the entire year and half we were recording.  The means by which it was achieved bore a striking resemblance to the travails, abandon and transformation of learning how to love and be loved; see and be seen.
