Description
- Near mint copy of the very hard to find original LP of the soundtrack to the 1956 science fiction classic "Forbidden Planet" (Planet PR001) with 23 tracks of electronic music by Louis and Bebe Barron.
- The producers of this film realized they had created something unique and also wanted the soundtrack to be "something different". They brought in electronic music pioneers Louis and Bebe Barron to provide the groundbreaking soundtrack which is noted in the credits as "Electronic Tonalaties".
- No orchestral instruments were used, only the sounds emitted by the cybernetic circuits which they conceived, designed and built. The true musical qualities, however, were recognized by critics and the public and it was honored with an Academy Award nomination. These groundbreaking efforts are still fresh after all these years and led the way for moog and other electronic music to follow. The music was so ahead of its time that it was not available until this 1978 release.
- The glossy LP looks and plays near mint with just a few light marks and some light occasional surface noise. The cool sci-fi cover is near mint. The back has excellent liner notes and scenes from the movie.
- It is autographed on the back by Louis and Bebe Barron. I cannot confirm the authenticity of the signatures and have not figured them into the value (but have included a picture for complete information).
- NO reserve. I ship worldwide and will combine winning bids to save on postage. In the US, the winning bidder pays choice of media mail ($4.00) or priority shipping (based on ZIP code). Airmail shipping and handling to Canada is $8.00. All other locations outside the US are $15.00. Good luck!
