An impressive concept album that was the brain child of powerhouse duo Buzz Cason and Pepper Martin – both highly talented. The rounded-out studio band was equally talented. This overlooked album has a pleasing variety of songs. The fast-paced psych rocker ‘Rock Jock Bobby Sloan’ is excellent. The opening ‘New Bethel Awakening’ displays a slight lysergic feel. Harder rockers ‘Into Something Real’ and ‘Syndrome Of Change’ have solid guitar work throughout. Then band bring in horns from time to time, however their tastefully worked in, like on ‘Opus Epyllion’. Side Two is strong with consistent offerings back to back.
