Frank Zappa Old Masters 

I am the original owner of all three boxes, I bought them when they came out in the '80s.

Box One

Condition:

Box and Tray: a bit of shelf wear mostly on the bottom of the box -

The lower front corner is a bit frayed (see pic) VG+

LPs & Covers: 

All as new, never played.

Only removed from their covers twice;

Once to put them in deluxe rice paper sleeves,

then to assess their condition for this auction!

2) Box one book, with articles ads & press releases. 28 (?) pages. As new, no folds or creases - NM

Box Two

Box & Tray VG+ to NM, a bit of shelf marking on foil.

No rips or tears.

Albums:

Uncle Meat

Cover: NM

LPs: Disc 1, Side 1 Has a 3" light mark (I hesitate to say scratch, it cannot be felt by a fingernail)

It visually grades out to VG+,

I play graded this side with a VPI table/arm and a Lyra Helikon cartridge

and this mark DID NOT sound.

Play grade - NM

Disc 1, Side 2, Disc 2 Sides 1 & 2 are visual grade NM

Hot Rats

Cover: VG+ due to yellowing at top from age.

Otherwise NM

Burnt Weeny Sandwich

Cover: NM

LP: One mark on each side.

Side 1 - 1" long between track 5&6, a bit noisy at end of this side.

Side 2 1/4" long between tracks 1&2. Ticks 9 times.

Both sides play grade on VPI/Lyra combination as VG+. Visual grade is the same.

LABEL EXPLANATION:

In the later '80s I occasionally used Last Record Preservative. It was a good product,

It seemed to keep the static down on the records I used it on.

THE ONLY PROBLEM was that with the kit you bought,

they supplied little stickers that you were to place somewhere,

so you knew what records had been treated.

So like a BIG DUMMY, I put those stickers on my record labels.

Later on, I became more collector conscious, and decided that these little stickers must go.

So I started to remove them as I played the LPs. Most of them didn't come off very well.

The ones that peeled OK left adhesive behind, which I used solvent to remove.

That blurred the ink, as on the Fillmore LP above.

Some others didn't peel, they tore.

I've photographed several of the offending labels.

IF I HAVEN'T NOTED A PROBLEM WITH A PARTICUALR LABEL,

THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THAT LABEL.
