Description
You are bidding a Boxed three album set entitled thing-fish in EXCELLENT Condition. SKYO 74201
This is an original USA copy of Frank Zappa's Box Set 3LP entitled Thing-Fish. Original Cast recording. I bought this new in 1985 and it has been carefully stored and not played very much at all. It comes with the 3 original ZAPPA record sleeve liners.
The Vinyl is perfect; the box has the usual shelf wear but no problems. The 16 page insert Libretto is perfect; there is also a Zappa BARFKO-Swill Zappa original masters product advertisement that is included which is great.
Cover Condition: EX box set a little bit of surface wear along edge and bottom of the box, but box is intact, while worn.
Vinyl Condition: Each of the 3 LPs is EXCELLENT Near Mint on Barking Pumpkin Records.
Inserts: Comes with Libretto booklet in NM/better condition and an additional insert from "Summer 1985" that features other releases, and highlights Zappa's "Masters" LP. This is a gatefold color item that is really cool!

Like his masterpiece JOE'S GARAGE, Zappa's THING-FISH is an epic rock opera on a grand scale. The comical narration by Ike Willis in the title role, with his own Amos-&-Andy-ish dialect, may seem like harmless buffoonery on the surface, but there is a dastardly evil undercurrent. The overall theme is the attempt by the establishment to systematically do away with certain undesirables in society. Instead, bizarre mutations called the mammy nuns are created and proceed to overtake mankind through the context of a Broadway show. Along the way, Zappa's compositional and satirical genius is in full creative overdrive as he manipulates his many strange characters (including Terry and Dale Bozzio as ignorant theater goers) through the weird libretto. Although many of the musical pieces only work in the context of the story, a dramatic reworking of the classic "The Torture Never Stops," the driving "You Are What You Is" and the gospel-sounding "The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing" are stand-out performances. Disc two continues with strange robotic voices in "The Crab-Grass Baby," the rocking "No Not Now" and it's backwards-running counterpart "Won Ton On" as the grand finale.
