GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : la sensibilità e la cultura artistica unita alla grande capacità compositiva di Giorgio Gaslini rendono la musica che accompagna il film di Dario Argento altamente interessante e bella. I moti rivoluzionari che portarono alla liberazione di Milano nel marzo del 1848 sono raccontati dal film con una trama non solo strettamente legata alla storia ma surrogata da elementi, beffardi e comici ed anche dissacratori e macabri. La musica riflette perfettamente tutto questo con sinfonie che in alcuni casi sono rafforzate dal canto del coro come nella tradizione verdiana sotto la direzione attenta dello stesso Gaslini e l'ammirevole esecuzione dell'Orchestra composta dai Professori del Teatro alla Scala.  Queste melodie, pur non nascondendo una certa enfasi patriottica, restano comunque prive di pompose glorificazioni o reboante drammaturgia sonora. Le armonie sono ben strutturate sia nei passaggi lenti che in quelli intensi e c’è spazio anche per un magnifico assolo di pianoforte nel brano "Il Parto" (a6). Inoltre è presente "Ave Maria" (a8) in una bella elaborazione di Gaslini per pianoforte e coro. In realtà Gounod riadattando un preludio di Bach l'aveva composta undici anni dopo le cinque giornate di Milano, ma è un veniale e perdonabilissimo anacronismo. Infine segnalo la particolarissima rielaborazione della "Gazza Ladra" di Rossini (b1). Qui il musicista Milanese fonde il suono del sintetizzatore a quello dell'orchestra ed anche del coro. Sicuramente un esperimento interessante e ben riuscito.

Notes : the sensibility and the artistic culture combined with the great compositional talent of Giorgio Gaslini make the music that accompanies the Dario Argento film, highly interesting and beautiful. The revolutionary uprisings that led to the liberation of Milan in March of 1848 are narrated by a plot which is only not strictly related to the history but also replaced by mocking and comic elements as well as by irreverent and macabre ones. The music perfectly reflects this with symphonies that in some cases are enhanced by the singing of the choir in the tradition of Verdi under the accurate direction of Gaslini himself and the admirable performance of the Orchestra composed by Professors of the Teatro alla Scala. These melodies, while not hiding some patriotic emphasis, remain without pompous glorification or bombastic sound dramaturgy. The harmonies are well structured in both the slow passages and in intense ones. There is also room for a magnificent piano solo in the track "Il Parto" (a6). Furthermore the classic "Ave Maria" (a8) in a beautiful elaboration of Gaslini for piano and choir. Actually Gounod readjusting a prelude of Bach had composed it eleven years after the five days of Milan, it is a venial and well pardonable anachronism. Finally, I report the very special version from "La Gazza Ladra" by Rossini (b1). Here the Milanese musician fuses the sound of the synthesizer to the orchestra and the choir too. Definitely an interesting and successful experiment.

Un film storico con alcune licenze "poetiche" prodotto da Salvatore Argento e diretto dal figlio Dario. Con Adriano Celentano, Marilù Tolo, Enzo Cerusico e Glauco Onorato.
