Up for auction tonight is a sought after Late Sixties, Early 70's release from local Dallas, Texas Singer / Songwriter GEORGE M. JONES. This Self-Titled, S/T, Private Pressing was released on OA Records and features the following songs on Side 1:
Forever is the Lie - To Make You Smile - Hello Is All (that I can say) - The Dreamer And The Wishing Well - Magic Strong and She And The Sun.
Side 2 contains Something's Wrong - Whats Her Name - On Chasin' Life - Hard Way Learnin' - My Friend, The Rain and lastly, INDEX.
Besides George, other musicians listed are Ron Dawson (Rockabilly King) Andy Michlin, Rick Beaver as well as Felder Fitzgerald, Malcom Furlough, James Clay and Ronnie Tutt.
Has back liner notes from Charlie Van (WFAA Radio) and Marge Pettyjohn (Dallas Morning News Music Columnist), who opined that George M. Jones' was greatly influenced by Bob Dylan ("bountiful Dylanesque imagery") and Johnny Cash. Not too shabby of influences, don't you agree?
This Purple Jacket and Yellow White Label record album plays just fine, free of skips, etc. Shows ringwear, and cover has some scuffs, but compared to the last one of these truly rare, hard to find and very collectible LP's, this one is 100% nicer. Vinyl is nice, just needs a little cleaning. Jacket is structurally sound; has wear signs in the usual places. YOU WILL LIKE THIS RECORD!
