Description
The George Martin Orchestra - 'All Quiet on the Mersey Front / Out Of The Picture'. R 5222
George Martin's 1965 UK 1st DEMO pressing of 'All Quiet on the Mersey Front / Out Of The Picture' 7" single. Released on the 1st January 1965, these initial early demo pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers or radio stations. Offered here in wonderful EXCELLENT condition.
'All Quiet on the Mersey Front' is taken from the soundtrack to the 1965 film 'Ferry Cross the Mersey'. George Martin produced the album and recorded this track which unfortunately did not sell particularly well. The album and film featured a whole host of stars from the Parlophone label who George produced including - Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Fourmost and Cilla Black. Of course the major name who did not feature on this album were The Beatles.
Released on the Parlophone demo 'A' label both sides state DEMONSTRATION RECORD NOT FOR SALE. The 'KT' tax code is embossed on the side one label. '1-1-65' is hand written on the a-side indicating the UK release date. This comes housed within an original and correct Parlophone sleeve.
The Matrix numbers are:
Side 1. 7XCE 18204-1N KT J R
Side 2. 7XCE 17218-1N 1 KT J R
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT condition. Both sides play perfectly.
