Hi everyone,
I'm auctioning TEN 78rpm 10" jazz records,
The titles can be seen from the photos but please feel free to ask questions.
All the Mulligan records feature the classic line-up of Chet Baker and Chico Hamilton. The Lennie Tristano Sextette features Lee Konitz and Wayne Marsh. The Stan Getz features sax solos from Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Brew Moore and Allen Eager. A wonderful collection of reedmen.
It's always difficult to grade 78s. An LP of a Piano sonata can be downgraded as a result of one tiny mark and it's rare to find 78s in that condition. All these records play well. On a wind-up gram there is some needle noise but that is a result of the equipment. Played on a modern player with a lightweight stylus they all sound pretty good with only the occasional background sound of imperfection.The visual inspection of the discs are as follows :-
Getz Some short light marks. Tristano Very clean with minimal marks. Mulligan 7 discs are very clean, some sides with minimal marks and a minority with a touch more. One disc, "Nights at the Turntable" is good but not great and it is the only one with a marked label. Fortunately, there is another copy amongst the others.
I have tried to be accurate with the photos but it's always difficult to get the camera to show exactly what the true benefits or otherwise may be. the white spots may well be dust but I haven'y digitally altered the photos for the purpose of making the records look better.
I'm sure the buyer will be pleased with his purchase.
